Today we read a chapter out loud. I think this is the second time we have done this. It's cool and all but it takes forever. I much rather read it to my self but hey, that's just me. Anyways i don't have much to blog today.

Today in class we did some roll playing and my group demonstrated examples of small talk, mixed messages and mis-communication. It teaches alot about tone and ways of speaking. We passed of course i mean what else could you expect from me? haha just playing X

Today i was absent. I did review the chapters and went over different ways of communication such as Verbal, Non-Verbal, Effective, Informal, Formal and Body Language. Its all pretty interesting. I pay more attention to the people I'm talking to and how i talk to them to really see what kind of communicator they and i are. Anyways sorry for the absents

February 20th, 2012

Today we talked about demonstrative speeches and im going to do my speech about Spam. I wrote it out and I'm ready to present on Wednesday. I'm glad I'm cooking spam cause cooking will increase my speech time and that's something i need to improve on. haha. I hope everyone brings good chow on Wednesday. I'm always mood for some munchies. :)

So in class we did a presentation for Mrs.Quichocho. It was fun and also enjoying, From our experiences of speech presentations. I hope that this would help me in the near future. Because, I myself. I want to one day pursue becoming a teacher later in the future.

we had a in-class overview about chapter 1, and also we had to turn in the reflection sheet #1

2/22. Our class did their demonstrative speech in which i didn't prepare myself for, and she told us that Monday would be make-up day. So this Monday I'll have to present 2 speeches and one role play.

2/15. Mrs.Q showed us how to write an essay, she guaranteed that we would do alot better if we give it a try on our next speech. We also did a little group reading on chapter 4 nonverbal codes send silent messages. It's about how we can explain the ways that nonverbal messages affect communication and how to identify channels of nonverbal communication.

2/08. I had an emergency at home so i wasn't there, but i was told that the class read ch. 3. So i went on to read the chapter which is about Paralanguage flavors the verbal message. It was mainly about how to identify the role of paralanguage in spoken messages, and explain the difference between content and intent in speaking.

Wednesdays class was fun... We did another class presentation where I presented "How to make pistachio pudding."  It was an easy quick mix, was kind of nervous AGAIN. But in the end I did it quite well.  I loved how it was a food presentation though, especially the sushi with spam presentation.  I never thought it was that easy to make certain things and that good too.  Can't wait to see Monday's presentation from the one's who missed last Wednesday's class.  

February 22, 2012 Blog#8

Things don't always happen the way it should.  I was so prepared to share my cinnamon sweet treat with you all.  I was just so out of it,  went to mass praying i'll feel better (Ash Wednesday), still had the cold and feverish.  I wanted to enjoy a good tasting treat from my fellow classmates too.  I guess next time.  I did get word on thursday that i will be able to present on Monday so till then i will demonstrate, show and share with you all my sweet treat cinnamon toast.

This past wednesday, I had a blast in class. We had a presentation on how to make food. One of the students had a presentation on how to make masubi...I think it is a Japanese dish that is almost like sushi. I thought it was delicious and really good. The dish had a sauce that had a flavor that was also really good.

I on the other hand is about to make my famous grilled cheese. The one most thing that everyone loves to eat as only a snack or just out of the blue. I will be making this dish in monday. This dish will also blow your mind! I know it...and my family knows it!!!

So tonights class we had to do a demonstrative speech. I loved how we tried all the different good food and how we are all getting better at doing presentations in front of class

Wednesday class

Today, some of us did our demonstrative speech. And boy was the speech's good. It kept me interested all through out class. We also talked about our make up work and what we need to make up before semi-finals. This semester is going by so fast I don't think I have the time to think just joking but tonight's class was fun.

February 20,2012 Monday

Mrs. Quichocho gave us a break down on how to do our demonstrative speech. I hope that, That could help me on my speech. To be honest I hate doing speeches, But that is our grade. So weather we like it or not we the students to have to participate. I hope that this speech goes really good. Mrs. Quichocho makes speeches look so easy. So I hope that I could break out of my fear of standing in front of class and just do it.

February 15,2012 Wednesday

So for last week Wednesday 02/15/2012. Mrs.Quichocho decided to give us the class examples on how paragraph writing should be about. What she was showing to us in class, Really helps me in my Writing workshop class. Although we learned that already. I really think that the break down that she had given us for me was more understanding. Paragraph writing is very helpful in many ways. Such as writing a resume, cover letter etc.

I understand that I did not make it to class Monday Night...But I know what the HW is...I believe that the HW is due Wednesday. The presentation is on food. One of the student s had told me...I will be doing my presentation on stufao! It is a chamorru dish that everyone loves to eat. I love to eat stufao myself! It is one of my favorite and easy dishes to make.

on monday, we all sat down and talk about the recent chapter we read. afterwards we discuss about the demonstrative speech, and also the class was debating if we should meet somewhere else other then our class for the presentation.

02/20/12 Blog #7:  Today in class we went over chapter 4,  Nonverval Codes Send  Silent Messages.  Our homework that was due today she extened it till Wednesday.  She demonstrated her speech which was on how ease it is to ice a cupcake.  Then she gave us all a sample.  We then were given a hand out to outline our demonstration and when we were done we were able to leave.  Before i left she was showing us a video on her computer an example on what she wants us to do on our homework project.   The movement that lady Petra did was something.  She did a step by step dance demonstration.  Thanks for sharing Mrs. Q.  Adios

blogging is supposed to be fun right? right?!

on wednesday we read most of the class time, and i thought that was good. reading is one of the pet peeves that im trying to change, overall it was great time. I feel so lost in that class, but im trying my best to catch up. we have a demostrative speech today, and i am trying to figure out what im going to do. i was thinking about the topic " how to use more than 10% of your brain", but its too much hassle. I will probably do it in the next speech,"probably." well this is my first blog for the class en091, but not the last i promise you that!

02/15/12, Blog#6 Chapter 4 Nonverbal Codes Send Silent Messages.  Class was great especially the teaching of how to write an essay.  Mrs. Q's short example of how to write was awesome.  The example she wrote on the board will help all of us in our difficulty of thought when writing.  The steps she shown 1,2, 3,4, 5.....  is our key to write.  After that we read the chapter, then was given our homework.  Bring in something personal to demonstrate in class for our speech.  Good luck everyone.

January 30,2012 Monday & February 01,2012 Wednesday

So for these days I had been reading Chapters 1 and Chapters 2 over and over in my head. Not because I have nothing to do, But sometimes reading things over again I guess would help. See my problem is that when I hear people reading I'm functioning  it in my head much better. Although I don't know nothing about this class, The least I could do is try. So in do time trying is what I am gonna do. Until I could find more others options for me to understand things better. Hopefully in the process of taking "Fundamentals of Communication" would help me in a better positive way.

Blog # 5: 02/15/2012

Blog #5:   Hi everyone Paralanguage Flavors the Verbal Message is what our Chapter 3 is about.  In class we were to get into a group or find a partner and role play on a topic.  When i walked in class Nia was nice enough to be my partner.  Sorry for coming late.  My partner and I picked the topic small talk.  We used our Workshop Class for the conversation.  Then the teacher and our fellow classmates critique on our role play.  Great job everyone.

February 13,2012 Monday

Today In class Mrs.Quichocho showed we the class some role playing tips before our session. Before actually doing the role play, All I could think about is that maybe it is going to be harder than it sounds, Although it really wasn’t. Role playing is so much more exciting. Today in our Role play Toiya P and Myself did (Small Talk = Mixed Messages.) To be honest I loved it. Maybe our next role playing I would do much better in the class session. On February 08,2012 Wednesday we the class did our self reading’s. We had to read Chapter 03 and then we did a little class test for Mrs.Quichocho to see if we had really read. While we the class where reading Mrs.Quichocho had spoken to me about what problems I have while reading and not completely comprehending what I am reading about. She gave me some tips on how my reading could advance much more better in the future.

We read chapter 3 and well, I understood some parts of what I read but not all. Hopefully we go over that chapter again. Then I would most likely understand the chapter better.

Monday February 6, 2012
We had a presentation. The class had to pick to #'s that they liked. Those #'s represented what the class had to present about. Some of us had an easy one and some of us had hard ones. I would say it wasn't so easy to present when your not ready. Or something like that. As for me, I had a hard presentation...I din't even know what to write about. I was pretty much speechless. Well I have know pick but this is all I have to say about what went on in class for the two days that had past...(CLASS)!

Wednesdays class

reading silently to ourselves was good we also talked about the chapter.  Each one of us gave a piece of the chapter to prove that we actually read the chapter.  It is true that we all talk differently when we talk to friends its a different pitch and tone.  you would not talk to your boss the same way you would talk to your friends. we all have different ways of communicating with certain groups and people and that what makes communication interesting. 

  

02/08/12, Blog #5, It was a nice and quite time in class.  Chapter 3 Paralanguage Flavors the Verbal Message is what we were assigned to do.  We were told to read quietly and we did with a little small talk in the side, did not disrupt anyone.  I try not to send mixed messages when our teacher askes us a question about the chapter we read. Learning about Pitch-tone of voices and the rate when we talk, volume/intensity, did you ever imagine evaluating yourself or trying to indentify the role of paralanguage in spoken messages.

02/06/2012, Blog #4.  Extemporaneous Speech Assignment in class.  Ready or not, we challenged ourselves and did a speech on the number we pulled and what ever it read we got up to the class and did our speech.   I picked #3, which said to explain 3 uses of a pencil aside from writing.  I tried my best to send my message out to you all.  I got feedback form the teacher that i did great,except for an attention getter.  Not time folks.  Positive flowing through communication.  Speaking for Success.

Monday.

I did my first speech presentation and it did not go too well. My topic was about "If I was the teacher, how would our class be different? The topic kind caught me off guard, so I did not have much to talk about. Being in this class helps me understand the importance and also improves my ability to communicate with others.

I was absent Monday February 06,2012. And I have no idea what to blog about but at least I am trying to even if I was no there. From what I know we where supposed to do a speech but because I was not there I do not know what we did. But I will blog about Wednesday February 01,2012, while we where in class we did read as a class, I think reading in class really helped me better understand what we had read because of us reading out loud. See I'm a verbal/Visual learner so reading entirely to myself drives me crazy. But I did understand one thing. It doesn't matter how you do your reading as long as you try you would get there in time.

My Name is Li-J M. Duenas. So for the first and second day of school I was completely absent. There are no explanations as to why I was absent. Now that I am blogging I have no idea what to blog about for this day, So could you say clueless absolutely. 

Okay so on January 18,2012 Wednesday and January 23,2012 Monday I didn't show up to class. So as of right now I do not know what to blog about, But I could tell being in class the first time January 25,2012 Wednesday . I had learned alot. For example what kind of person I am. And at this age we should already be ready for the teacher when she gives us an assignment to do. I am completely clueless about what is going on because of my abstinence. I've learned that their are many ways to take on yourself without resulting into Violence and Verbal Misbehavior.  I took this class to learn more about our communicating skills, because I find myself a very poor person in communicating. I hope that in result of this next lesson I wouldn't be such a SCARED WHIMP. Because my problem is and I think I speak for most we could talk to our friends and family how ever we wanted but we can't seem to get over the fear of a class room. 

January 23,2012

 Okay so on Monday we had a speech to present. Mrs. Quichocho got us all completely out of surprise. We had to present our presentation without knowing exactly what to do. But even so I continued to do as we where asked and that was to face the fear that we hold inside. Because of Mrs. Quichocho I think the next speech I would still be nervous yet a little bit more at ease. This is lesson we would all have to learn, But the outcome of this speech I think she is trying to put in our heads is that the older we get we need to communicate in many different ways.

Yesterday's class session went well. Did another stand up speech and my topic was about "If you were an animal what would you be?" I of course chose a Dove because of it's unique values and characteristics that were similar to me in ways. Pure, gentle, and peaceful. It also symbolizes Love. Being in the class I am in now makes me understand and communicate more in all kinds of ways. Not only through speaking in front of the class but communicating with my instructor and others outside of school hours.

Blog #3 Chapter 1 and 2

A wonderful evening started with Mrs. Q assisting all who needed help in logging in or blogging......
Then she explained we were going to start reading in class. I believe it will create a social contact with all of us.  We read Chapter 1-You Are a Coded Communication Channel and Chapter 2-Speech is an Oral Language Code.  What would the world be if we had no appearance and no words.  I'd believe there would be no way to understand the world.  Just like us, appearance and communication is a skill we all learn and improves the quality of our life.

Blog #2 Channel Speech Assignment

Blog #2  Class was great. It started out as usually with the roll call attendance.  Then we were to be prepared to do our HW assignment.  To tell the class about the three things we chosed to share.  Our teacher blind pick the names to tell who would go first.  And with the luck i was choosen out of 10 to be the 10th.  Yes the last one to speak.  Hooray for all of us who came to class right on communicators.  Glad to enhance my perception on you.  We did it we coded.  I am proud of myself, you all should be proud of yourself too.  See ya all in class.  Simply Me.

Wednesdays class

Wednesdays class was good reading in a group is always the best idea.  without communication the world along with everyone else would be in the dark.  we would not know right from left and up from down what day it is and so forth.  communication is one the most important to have without it nothing will work.  businesses will not run smoothly and thing will not get done things that will make the company lose money just because of the failure to communicate .
